Mr. Andrew Jackson “Andy” Montgomery, Jr., age 87, of Summerville, GA, died Friday, January 19, 2018, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Montgomery was born November 28, 1930, in Athens, AL, son of the late Andrew Jackson, Sr. and Bertie Gladys Bailey Montgomery.  Prior to his retirement, he worked as a supervisor at Bigelow-Sanford Carpet and as plant manager at Image Carpet.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Mark Montgomery.

Mr. Montgomery is survived by his wife, Bonnie Peppers Montgomery; son and daughter-in-law, John and Paula Montgomery; daughter, Vicki Collins; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Joyce Montgomery; grandchildren, Kelli Hutchinson, Rich Montgomery, Michelle Eddy, Cory Montgomery, B. J. Montgomery, and Ashley Brown; 15 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services for Mr. Montgomery will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, January 23, 2018, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marshall Bryan and Bro. Steve Peppers officiating, with the eulogy being given by his son, John Montgomery.  Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be Rich Montgomery, Cory Montgomery, B. J. Montgomery, Eric Brown, Bill Eddy, and Eddie Ellenburg.  Honorary pallbearers will be Pete Dunson, Bob Peppers, Michael Montgomery, Sam Peppers, and Pete Denson. 

Mr. Montgomery will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Monday, January 22, 2018.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Chattooga County Animal Shelter or the Chattooga County Library System.
