Mrs. Mildred Pauline Jennings Hurley, age 94, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away peacefully at her home in Broomtown, AL, on Thursday, August 11, 2016.
Mrs. Hurley was born March 19, 1922, in Centre, AL, the daughter of the late Luther Franklin and Lucy Evelyn Nicholson Jennings. She was a member of Mount Bethel Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, she had worked at Riegel Textiles, Georgia Glove Mill, and Hurley Farms. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, farmer, gardener, and mill worker. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hurley was preceded in death by her husband, Hoyett Alfred Hurley; siblings, Hobart Jennings, Sybil Jennings Slayton Hoops, Billy Joe Jennings, Bob Jennings; daughter-in-law, Sandra Wright Hurley, and step-mother, Rachel Gladys Jennings.
She is the loving mother to Betty Jo (William) Schatz, Chagrin Falls, Ohio, Larry Hoyt (Sheila) Hurley, Broomtown, AL; grandmother to Larry Dewayne (Shasta) Hurley, Casey Lamar (Amy) Hurley, Amanda (David) Schatz Babst, Megan (Timothy) Kurteff Schatz, Michael Hoyt (Jill) Schatz; great-grandmother to Logan McKenzie Hurley, Lawson Trent Hurley, William Oliver Kurteff-Schatz, Noah Michael Kurteff-Schatz, Katharine Pauline Babst, Chester Ryan Babst, Margaret Elizabeth Babst, Jacob Wayne Hurley, Mattie Jean Hurley; and sister-in-law to Evelyn Jennings; and step-sister to Judy Mason.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Sunday, August 14, 2016, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Maples officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Dewayne Hurley, Casey Hurley, Michael Hoyt Schatz, Logan Hurley, Lawson Hurley, David Babst, and Timothy Kurteff-Schatz. Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Buttram, Johnny Roberts, Tommy Miller, Neil Compton, Danny Smith, Danny Jennings, and Dickie Jennings.
Mrs. Hurley will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) until the service hour on Sunday.
Following interment, family and friends are welcome back to Mrs. Hurley's home for a time of fellowship.
