My dad and Paw Paw worked for Mr. & Mrs. Woodard at the Home Store when they first came to Summerville. They were the finest people we knew and so good to our family. I'll never forget Mr. Woodard's cigar and Mrs. Woodard's friendly personality. I can close my eyes and see the inside of The Home Store at this very minute. Daddy drove the store truck from time-to-time and delivered groceries for call-in orders. Those days are long gone. A part of the best days of downtown Summerville are now gone....God bless each of you. Mary Stephens

Dear Friends,
I just saw the notice about Mrs. Woodard. I am so sorry for your loss. I have wonderful memories of going to your house after school with Virginia.. Your parents were so sweet. I also loved working at the Piggly Wiggly when I was in high school. I can still remember the prices of the grocery products. Milk was $.32 cents a quart.

One of my fondest memories at Christmas was the large snowman in your front yard. It added some magic to the season.

Your parents were special people to me. Your mother was a very gracious lady and will be missed.

Miriam Lynn
