Mrs. Julia Virginia Gentry Howell,  age 88, of Trion, GA, passed away Saturday July 25, 2015, in Oakview Nursing and Rehab Center.

Mrs. Howell was born March 2, 1927, in Chattooga County GA, the daughter of the late Virgil and Ida Viola “Daisy” Walker Gentry.  She was a retired textile worker, a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church, and was preceded in death by her husband, Hobert (Red) Howell; daughter, Shirley Cloud; and grandson, Jesse James Hathorn.

Survivors include her children, Judy Hathorn, Joyce Goodson, Betty Suits; sisters, Doris Bryan, Jane Reed, Edna Williams; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 5 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, July 27, 2015, at 3:00 P.M. from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Patterson and Rev. Gary Howell officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Billy Bennett, W.J. Keith, Daniel Gentry, Jeff Edge, Zachery Doll, and Carl Gentry. Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons and friends of New Bethel Baptist Church.

Mrs. Howell will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will  receive friends Monday from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour.
