Rev. Robert Patterson

Rev. James Robert Patterson, age 84, of LaFayette, GA, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 17, 2018.

Rev. Patterson was born November 20, 1933, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Altus and Mary Howard Patterson.  He was a Baptist Minister and had pastored numerous churches including Chesterfield, Friendship, New Bethel, New Canaan, East View, Ridgeway, Woodstation, House of Prayer, Pennville Gospel Tabernacle, Waterville, and New Harvest Baptist Churches.  He earned his Doctorate of Ministry from Covington Theological Seminary.  Rev. Patterson was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and was retired from Mason Funeral Home where he worked as a Funeral Assistant.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, A. V. Patterson; sisters, Ruth Helton and Barbara Carnes.

Survivors include his wife, Frances Sue Ramey Patterson; children, Randall and Lolly Patterson, Charles and Sandra Patterson, Robin and Brent Bruce; 7 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Rev. Patterson will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, November 20, 2018, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Langston and Rev. Ronald Guffey officiating.  Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Billy Bennett, Ralph Southerland, Kyle Price, Steve Anderson, Charles Thompson, and James Davis.  Honorary pallbearers will be all active and retired ministers of Chattooga and Walker County Churches, Horace Payton, W. J. Keith, Raymond Southerland, Harry Junkins, Charles Littlejohn, and Johnny Barrett.

Rev. Patterson will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday, November 19, 2018, from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M.
