Rev. Jerry Donald Rutledge, Sr., age 78, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at his residence.
Rev. Rutledge was born December 9, 1942, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Alonzo Jackson Rutledge, Sr. and Dicie Elizabeth Hopkins. He had served as pastor at Berryton Bible Mission for 50 years. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with the Summerville City Street Department.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Greg Rutledge; granddaughter, Ashley Rutledge; great-granddaughters, Kendall Rutledge and Shalia Rutledge.
Survivors include his wife, Charlotee Ann Fleming Rutledge; sons, James (Jennifer) Rutledge, Donny Rutledge, Jason Rutledge, and Jonathan Rutledge; daughter, Pam (Lamar) Millican; daughter-in-law, Cindy Jaye; sister, Mary (Robert) Hughes; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Rev. Rutledge will be held at 4:00 P.M. Friday, June 11, 2021, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Larry Reynolds and Pastor Jamie Moore officiating. Interment will follow in Lyerly Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Samuel Rutledge, Jesse Jackson, Luke Jackson, Zach Rutledge, Jeremy Jackson, Hunter Ratledge, Isaac Ratledge, and T. J. Rutledge. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Berryton Bible Mission Christian Center.
Rev. Rutledge will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Berryton Bible Mission c/o United Community Bank.
The Rutledge family, along with the staff of Mason Funeral Home remind anyone in attendance to keep in mind the current guidelines and restrictions for the COVID pandemic set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings limitations including social distancing, gathering limits, and face masks.
