Mrs. Virginia Jo Johnson Nichols, age 80, of Mentone, AL, died Wednesday, May 13, 2020, at her residence.
Mrs. Nichols was born March 6, 1940, in Mentone, AL, daughter of the late James Posey “Jim” Johnson and Florence Mae Frances Deering Johnson. She was a member of Mount Calvary Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Century Glove. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Rodrick Nichols; brothers, Albert Johnson and George Johnson; and a sister, Thelma Scruggs.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Henry Olen Nichols; son and daughter-in-law, Stanley and Margaret Nichols; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Bobby Cavin; sisters, Agnes Farmer, Mary Youngblood, Jan Black, and Gladys Bentley; grandchildren, Caitlin Cavin, John and Rose Cavin, Kayla Nichols, Krysta and Tripp Cheatham, Tommy Lambino, Jessica and Michael Whitcomb, and Mary Saylors; great-grandchildren, Bryer Cheatham and Paizley Cheatham.
Due to the current health concerns for our community, visitation and graveside services for Mrs. Nichols will be held privately for the immediate family only. Rev. Jack Green will officiate. Interment will also be held privately at AMI Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Cavin, Kenneth Black, Tripp Cheatham, Johnny Youngblood, Jason Youngblood, Kevin Bentley, Josh Key, Malachi Key, and Tommy Lambino.
