Ms. Sylvia Ann Porter Vaughan age 78 of Trion, GA passed away Wednesday, June 4, 2025 at a local hospital.

Mrs. Vaughan was born November 15, 1946 in Portsmouth, VA to the late Elvin and Doris Thomas Porter and she was retired from the Bertie Correctional Institute. She was a devoted Christian and member of Midway Baptist Church where she served as church pianist for over 8 years and with her former home church, Aurlander Baptist Church in Aurlander, NC for over 40 years.  

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her grandson, Chase Keener; and brothers, Buddy Porter and Fred Porter.

Survivors include her sons, John (Cheri) Jett and Joseph (Leishia) Reid; sister, Sara Wright; 5 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Martinia, Sam, Justin, and Caleb;  10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made in Ms. Vaughan's honor to Midway Baptist Church. (194 Ellen St. Summerville, GA 30747)

A memorial service is planned for Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 11:00 AM - 1:00PM at Midway Baptist Church, Summerville, GA.
