Mrs. Ophelia Vivian (Maxey) Brooks

Mrs. Ophelia Vivian Brooks, age 87, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, February 5, 2018, at the Oakview Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Brooks was born June 20, 1930, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Dewey and Myrtle Maynor Maxey.  She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Brooks; son, Jimmy Wayne Brooks; brothers, Johnny Maxey, Dewey Maxey, Jr., Jerry Maxey; and a sister, Annell Smith.

Mrs. Brooks is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Doris Maxey, Rickey and June Maxey, Doris Maxey, Shirley Holt, Mary Alice Maxey; sisters and brothers-in-law, Frances and Tommy Holt, Cathryn and Leon Pittman; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mrs. Brooks will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, February 8, 2018, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplain Terry Combs officiating.  Active pallbearers will be Hisham Menkara, Alan Maxey, Ryan Hudgins, and Seth Hudgins.  Honorary pallbearers will be the staff of Oakview Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Brooks will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Thursday.
