Mrs. Nancy Sue Johnson Powell, age 77, of Summerville, GA, died Saturday, August 1, 2020, at her residence.
Mrs. Powell was born March 10, 1943, in Trion, GA, daughter of the late Luke Walter Lee Johnson, Sr. and Mozelle Daniel Johnson. She was educated at A.C. Carter School. She was a member of New Hope United Methodist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William A. “Sonny” Powell; and a son, Alex E. “Pete” Johnson; brothers, Charles Johnson, Luke Walter Lee Johnson, Jr.; and a sister, Bertha Mae Johnson Price.
Survivors include her sons, Steve Johnson, Darryl Powell, and Chad Powell; brother, Fletcher H. Johnson; 6 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; 5 nieces; and 7 nephews.
Graveside services for Mrs. Powell will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, August 8, 2020, at Allgood Cemetery with Rev. Robert E. “Pete” Barrett officiating. Active pallbearers will be James Price, Cedric Price, Spencer Johnson, Blake Johnson, Tyler Powell, and Mike Price. Honorary pallbearers will be Steve and Shane Johnson, Marty Loveless, Nigel Dikerson, D’Angelo Price, and Brennen Price. Nieces will serve as flower bearers
Visitation will be held privately.
