Mrs. Melinda Davette (Maynard) Floyd

Mrs. Melinda Davette Floyd, age 58, of Trion, GA, died Friday, December 18, 2020, at her residence, from early onset of Alzheimer’s disease.

Mrs. Floyd was born November 10, 1962, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Gibson and Jewel Minnie Deering Maynard.  She was a member of Dry Valley Baptist Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed in the billing and coding department of Harbin Clinic. 

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Floyd was preceded in death by her sister, Leta; and brothers, Glenn Maynard, Buster Maynard, and Austin Maynard.

Survivors include her husband, Marty Floyd; daughter, Brittany (Kisha) Slayton; step-son, Shannon (Jessica) Floyd; sisters, Nadine Espy, Debbie Cooper, Alice Ballinger, Brenda Hughes, and Sandra Corbin; 3 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside and interment services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Floyd will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday December 22, 2020 at Summerville Cemetery with Rev.  Jimmy Weaver officiating.  Active pallbearers will be Gary Floyd, Warren Hall, Sam Gongwer, D. J. Metroka, Jonathan Tomlin, and Jesse Tomlin.  Honorary pallbearers will be Shannon Floyd and Matt Cordle. In lieu of flowers family request memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alzga.org

Visitation will be held Tuesday December 22, 2020 from 9:30 till 10:30 for the immediate family and close friends, at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel.

The Floyd family along with the staff of Mason Funeral Home reminds anyone in attendance to keep in mind the current guidelines and restrictions set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings including social distancing, gathering limits, and face masks.
