Mrs. Mary "Gayle" (Parker) Owens

Mrs. Mary “Gayle” Owens age 81 of Summerville, GA passed away Saturday, February 8, 2025 at a Rome hospital.

Mrs. Owens was born November 5, 1943 in Summerville, GA to the late Bill and Effie Mallicoat Parker. She is a member of Perennial Springs Baptist Church and enjoyed word searches and dogs. She was retired from the Chattooga County School System where she served in the cafeteria.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, Wayne Parker and Billy Parker; step grandchildren, Charleston Eaton and Robert Eaton, and step-great-grandchildren, Megan Mahan and Savannah Mahan.

Survivors include her loving husband, Harry Owens; children, Stephen Owens, Eugene (Rita) Owens, and Mary (Merle) McGuire; granddaughter and caregiver, Danika Mitchell, grandson Derrringer Leffler, step-grandchildren, Beth Collins, Timothy Fowler, Darin McGuire, and Ashley McGraw and 21 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Owens will take place at 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 11, 2025 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Alton Stamey officiating. Interment will follow at Summerville Cemetery with Joe Reed, Nick Kerley, Jamie Mitchell, Jerry Ballenger, Darin McGuire, and Derringer Leffler serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday from 11:00 until the service hour.
