Mrs. Dorothy Morris

Mrs. Dorothy Mae Bates Morris, age 77, of Rome, GA, formerly of Lyerly, passed away Thursday, December 24, 2020, at Floyd Medical Center.

Mrs. Morris was born January 2, 1943, in Estell Springs, TN, daughter of the late Nolen and Glendon Mae Cobb Bates.  She was a member of Spring Creek Baptist Church and was retired from Mohawk Industries.  She loved her precious Savior, her church family, and spending time with her loved ones.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Morris; brothers, Tom Bates, Paul Bates, and Jim Bates; and a sister, Barbara Jeanette Dixon.

Survivors include her children, James Morris, Debbie & Steven Driggers; a brother, L.A. Bates; grandchildren, Gage and Ginger Driggers, Cody and Blake Sewell, Mason and Shelby Driggers, Victoria and Steven Simpson; great-grandchildren, Braylen, Joycelyn, and Cullin Driggers, and Kiing Sewell; as well as a large extended family and many special friends.

Graveside and interment services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Morris will be held at 2:30 Monday, December 28, 2020, at Lyerly Cemetery with Pastor Chris Holman and her son, Steven Driggers officiating.  Active pallbearers will be Mason Driggers, Gage Driggers, Steven Simpson, Lloyd Dixon, David Sprayberry, and Stacy Evans.  Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Spring Creek Baptist Church.

The Morris family along with the staff of Mason Funeral Home reminds anyone in attendance to keep in mind the current guidelines and restrictions set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings including social distancing, gathering limits, and face masks.
