Mrs. Carolyn Eubanks Holmes, age 87, of Summerville, GA, died Wednesday, May 25, 2022, at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.
Mrs. Holmes was born November 19, 1934, in Rome, GA, daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Eubanks and Thelma Marr Eubanks. She was a member of Alpine Community Church where she taught Sunday School. Prior to her retirement, she worked as a teacher with the Floyd County Board of Education and the Gordon County Board of Education. Mrs. Holmes was also a member of the Chattooga Historical Society and she loved to sing.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Pendley Holmes; daughter, Esther H. Ball; step-son, Jerry Holmes; brothers, Robert Eubanks, William Eubanks, Milton Eubanks, and Thomas Eubanks; sisters, Catherine Eubanks Evatt and Irene Eubanks; a granddaughter, Sarah Levassuer; and a son-in-law, Bob Stringfield.
Survivors include daughters, Beth (Lynn) Hall, Diane Squires, Brenda Holmes; son-in-law, Tommy Ball; brother, Douglas (Nancy) Eubanks; sisters, Donna (Wayne) Hurst, Monna (Charles) Lumsden; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 29, 2022, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jeremy Stroop officiating. Interment will follow in Alpine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and grandson-in-laws.
Mrs. Holmes will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Sunday.
