Mrs. Betty Juanita “B.J.” Hawkins Gore, age 80, of Rome, GA, died Sunday, May 23, 2021, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Gore was born October 20, 1940, in Summerville, GA, daughter of the late Levi Formworth and Velma Mae Slayton McGraw. Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a nutritionist at Chattooga High School and had also previously worked at Hayes State Prison. Mrs. Gore was a member of the New Romans Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Charles Wallace Hawkins; son, Charles Bradley Hawkins; sister, Rosia “Rose” Mae Lancaster; and brothers, Jack McGraw and Ronald “Ronnie” McGraw.
Survivors include her husband, Allen Lamar Gore; son, Frederick Bryan (Connie Elaine) Hawkins; daughter, Beth Hawkins Hall; brothers, Levi Formworth “Bud” (Miron) McGraw, Bobby Richard “Bob” (Joyce) McGraw; sister, Sylvia Oneida (Dave) Wasik; grandchildren, Brandi Nicole Hawkins, Charles Bradley Hawkins, Rachel Victoria Hawkins, Sydney Sheris Hawkins, Savannah Rayne Hawkins, and John Alexander Hall; great-grandchildren, Jayden Evans and Dillon Evans; and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside and interment services for Mrs. Gore will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Cloudland Presbyterian Church Cemetery with Bro. Anthony Sisco officiating. Pallbearers will be Charles Hawkins, Dillon Evans, Greg McGraw, Daryll Adams, Chris Agan, and Jeff Ramsey.
Mrs. Gore will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:30 P.M. until 1:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to the Salvation Army Shelter (310 E. 2nd Avenue, Rome, GA 30161).
The Gore family, along with the staff of Mason Funeral Home remind anyone in attendance to keep in mind the current guidelines and restrictions for the COVID pandemic set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings limitations including social distancing, gathering limits, and face masks.
