Mrs. Betty (Dozier) Bankston

Mrs. Betty Dozier Bankston age 86 of Summerville, GA passed away Wednesday- December 4, 2019 at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Bankston was born October 5, 1933 in Dallas, GA, daughter of the late Rosa Bohannon.  She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many and was a faithful member of the West 5th Street Church of Christ.  In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her son, Morris Bankston; adoptive parents, Charlie Clay and Bertha Clay; brothers, Roosevelt Montgomery, John Anthony, and Arthur Irving; sisters, Laura Adams, Annie Lizzie McCullough.

Mrs. Bankston is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Jessie James Bankston; children, Gwen (John) Nichols, Valerie (James) Thompson, Katie Price, Fred Bankston, and Belinda Bankston; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother, Robert Reese; sisters-in-law, Doris (Wilbur) Shepherd, Eva Byron; brother-in-law, Mactine Bankston; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Bankston will be held at 2:00 P.M.Tuesday- December 10, 2019, at West 5th Street Church of Christ with Min. John Lewis officiating.  Interment will follow in Summerville Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Aaron Wooten, Kishan Nichols, Brandon Nichols, Roger Price, Malcolm Price, and Devin Price.  Honorary pallbearers will Jim Stoker, Leo Black, Jackie Hoskins, Billy Wehunt, Otis Grogan.  Flower bearers will be Ruthie Rounsaville, Judy Loveless, Barbara Johnson, Barbara Madden, Nancy Allen, and Mary Covington.

Mrs. Bankston will be in state at West 5th Street Church of Christ and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Tuesday.
