Mrs. Annie Kate (Haynes) Thompson

Mrs. Annie Kate Thompson, age 81, of Summerville, GA, died Saturday, January 25, 2025, at Advent Health Redmond.

Mrs. Thompson was born May 2, 1943, in Eagle, WV, daughter of the late Miles Haynes, Sr. and Lethia Swaggardy Haynes.  She was a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church and was retired from Berry College.  She had also previously been employed with Summerville Glove Mill until its closure.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Wanda Thompson; brother, Miles Haynes, Jr.; sisters, Willie Kate Olden and Annie Bell Anderson.

Survivors include her fiancé, Frank Morton; son, Joseph Thompson; daughter, Phyllis Young; grandchildren, Cortez Thompson, Brashawn Thompson, Taler Young, Alethia Young, Asheleigh Young, Sherrod Young, Syed Young; great-grandchildren, Juliana Thompson, Cortez Levangham Thompson, Jr., and Makaiven Thompson; sister-in-law, Dinah Kate Hixon Haynes; son-in-law, Steve Young; best friend, Shirley Farmer; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, February 2, 2025, from the Oak Hill Baptist Church with Pastor George Beavers officiating.  Interment will follow in Oak Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.  The men of Oak Hill Baptist Church will serve as pallbearers.

Mrs. Thompson will be in state at Oak Hill Baptist Church and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Sunday.
