Mr. Walter Clay "W.C." Ray

Mr. Walter Clay “W.C.” Ray, age 70, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday, June 15, 2018, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Ray was born June 27, 1947, in Dutton, AL, son of the late Henry Clay and Gladys Mozzelle Stephens Ray.  He was a member of Midway Baptist Church, and prior to retiring due to ill health, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills after 20 years of service.  Mr. Ray graduated from Chattooga High School in 1966.  He then attended Dalton Junior College, Berry College, and the University of Maryland Extension while serving in the United States Air Force in England. 

Mr. Ray is survived by his wife, Effie Mae Ray; sisters, Claris Bowman and Debbie Bryan Ray; brother-in-law, Charlie Crawford; and a nephew, Mike Bowman.

Funeral services for Mr. Ray will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 19, 2018, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dale Willingham and Rev. Larry McCoy officiating.  Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Mike Flippo and James Evans.

Mr. Ray will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the service hour on Tuesday.
