Mr. Stanley Allen Cummings, age 89, of Summerville, GA, died Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at his residence.
Mr. Cummings was born March 24, 1931, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Arthur Bradford Cummings and Margaret Lee Allen Cummings. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church in Gore. He served on the original board and was instrumental in the establishment of the Gore Fire Department. Prior to his retirement, he was employed with Temple-Inland and had also served in the Georgia National Guard from 1948 – 1958. Mr. Cummings also loved fishing and was an avid farmer; having grown, sold, and donated produce to people throughout his community. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven Bradford Cummings; and brothers, Bill Cummings and Morris Cummings.
Mr. Cummings is survived by his wife, Lorene Kiker Cummings; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Melissa Cummings; grandson, Shawn Cummings; sister-in-law, Annette Cummings; and several special nieces and nephews.
Graveside and interment services for Mr. Cummings will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, April 3, 2020, at the Silver Hill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Jody Brock officiating. Pallbearers will be Shane Bandy, Tim Evans, Shawn McCary, Matt Battle, Lawrence Bandy, and Gary Teems. The family, as well as the staff of Mason Funeral Home encourage anyone attending the graveside service to keep in mind the current recommendations and restrictions set forth by the C.D.C. pertaining to social gatherings.
