Mr. Ray McDonald Obituary

Mr. Ray McDonald, age 85, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, October 26, 2020, at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.

Mr. McDonald was born August 16, 1935, in Spartanburg, SC, son of the late William Joe and Ethel Henderson McDonald.  He was a member of Chelsea Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Shaw.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Grace McDonald; second wife, Barbara McDonald; son, David McDonald; daughter, Martha McDonald Williams; brothers, Dean McDonald, Grady McDonald, and Carl McDonald; and a son-in-law, John Johnson.

Survivors include his wife, Iva Maynard McDonald; sons, Joe (Beth) McDonald, Carl (Renae) Maynard; daughter, Becky Johnson (Gary Rape); a sister, Joyce Walker; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday, October 30, 2020, at Summerville Cemetery with Rev. Steve Morgan and Rev. Mike Odom officiating.  Active pallbearers will be Joshua Ray Prince, Skyler Austin Renfroe, Greg Smith, Kevin Smith, Keith Smith, and Chris Smith.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Men’s Sunday School Class of Chelsea Baptist Church and Mark Schrader.

Visitation will be held privately.

The McDonald family along with the staff of Mason Funeral Home remind anyone in attendance to keep in mind the current guidelines and restrictions set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings including social distancing, gathering limits, and face masks.
