Mr. Luther Aubry Young, age 86, of Lyerly, GA, died Thursday, November 11, 2021, at his residence.
Mr. Young was born May 15, 1935, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Sam and Willie Parker Young. He was a member of Sardis Baptist Church and prior to his retirement, he was employed with Mount Vernon Mills for 40 years and Trion City Schools for 10 years. Mr. Young was a dedicated, hard-working man. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club at Mount Vernon, and he loved reading, gardening, and remodeling houses.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Young was preceded in death by his daughter, Deborah McGuire; brothers, Herman Young and Harold Young; sister, Rachel McNair; and a granddaughter, Heather Gomez.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara Agan Young; daughters, Brenda Gale Young and Melissa Milam; step-daughter, Sherrie (Wayne) Dunaway; brothers, John (Liz) Young, Bill (Betty) Young; 4 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, November 15, 2021, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dewayne Teague and Rev. Danny Agan officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Active pallbearers will be Michael Young, Wayne Dunaway, Will Dunaway, David Pittman, and Lee McKeehan. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Sardis Baptist Church, co-workers from Mount Vernon Mills, and all staff members of Trion City Schools.
Mr. Young will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Monday.
