Mr. Joel Elrod Obituary

Mr. Joel Thomas “Tommy” Elrod, age 63, of Resaca, GA, died Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at his residence.

Mr. Elrod was born February 25, 1956, in Chatsworth, GA, son of the late Joe Glen Elrod and Mary Jo Grady Elrod. He was a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church of Resaca and was employed as an electrician. Mr. Elrod was also a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a Staff Sergeant and was a lifetime member of the Floyd County Chapter 95 of Disabled American Veterans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Bell Bishop Elrod; and a step-son, James Eugene Bramlett.

Mr. Elrod is survived by his son, Joseph Thomas Elrod; daughters, Tabitha Fuquay, Jerrie (Eddie) Massey, Sherrie (Kenny) Cooley; sisters, Sherry (Johnny) Akin, Wanda Elrod, and Marie (Russell) Findley.

In accordance with his wishes, Mr. Elrod will be cremated and a private memorial inurnment service will be held at a later date at AMI Cemetery.
