Mr. Jimmie Edward Phillips, age 85, of Menlo, GA, died Thursday, November 23, 2023, at his residence.

Mr. Phillips was born April 16, 1938, in Trion, GA, son of the late Charlie Edward Phillips and Ethleen Rich Phillips.  He was a member of Teloga Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Mount Vernon Mills.  He was also previously employed with the Chattooga County Sanitation Department.  Mr. Phillips was a veteran of the United States Army and was an avid farmer. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Kathleen Wooten; and 5 grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Dorthene Brown Phillips; sons, Eddie (Ginger) Phillips, Rickey (Lisa) Phillips; daughters, Karen (Robert) Garrett, Barbie (Tommy) Strawn, and Sandy Phillips; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Phillips will be held at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, November 26, 2023, at Teloga Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Weaver and Rev. Ives Harris officiating.  Interment will follow in Garrett Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Craig Garrett, Brian Garrett, Patrick Strawn, Timothy Garrett, Lawson Garrett, Michael Lough, and Mason Lough.  Honorary pallbearers will be Keith James, Kolby Smith, Ryan Wilson, and Little Kolby Smith.

Mr. Phillips will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Saturday, November 25, 2023.  He will also lie in state at Teloga Baptist Church from 2:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Sunday.
