Mr. James “Albert” Johnson, Sr. age 87, of Mentone, AL died Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Redmond Medical Center in Rome, GA.
Mr. Johnson was born October 20, 1932 in Cherokee county AL , son of the late James P. and Florence Mae Frances Johnson. He was a retired farmer and contractor and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a brother, George Johnson and one sister, Thelma June Scruggs.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Ann Johnson; One Son, James A. “Muscles” Johnson and his wife Tammy; five sisters, Virginia Nichols, Agnus Farmer, Mary Youngblood, Gladys Bentley and Jan Black; five grandchildren, Jennifer Johnson Reece (Robert Hays), Emily (Jason) Hampton, Maggie Johnson (Andrew Flood), and Sam Johnson; five great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mr. Johnson will be held Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Green officiating. Pallbearers will be Robert Hays, Jason Hampton, Andrew Flood, Sam Johnson, Caleb Reece and Sarah Beth Hampton. Honorary pallbearers will be Alfred and Annie May Owen, Roland and Sandra Owen, Wayne Owen, Paul Hosmer, Thomas Cole and Bill Crane. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Mr. Johnson will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 5-7 PM Tuesday, February 25, 2020.
