Mr. Ivan "Sonny" Dillard Obituary

Mr. Ivan “Sonny” Woodrow Dillard II, age 75, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, March 8, 2021, at his residence.

Mr. Dillard was born May 6, 1945, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Ivan Woodrow Dillard, Sr. and Louise Brown Dillard.  He was a member of Wayside Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed with Combustion Engineering.  He was a member of North Georgia Cruisers and Boilermakers Union 656.

Sonny was the best, most loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.  He went out of his way to take care of everyone, even if he had to stop what he was doing.  He always put other people’s needs before his own.  Sonny had the ability to find unique ways to solve problems and create things.  He could build or fix anything he wanted.  For those who knew and loved him, knew how kind to people he was.  He will be greatly missed by all.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Dillard was preceded in death by close cousins, Ellis “Cookie” Cook and Louise Helton.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Reynolds Dillard; son, James Matthew Dillard; daughter, Gina Dillard (Johnny) Adams; grandchildren, Ethan Lee Crider, Austin Bailey Dillard, and Mia Grace Crider; great-grandchildren, Ethan Lee Crider, Jr. and Ivan Gray Dillard.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Lyerly Cemetery with Rev. Gary Howell and Rev. Larry Reynolds officiating.  Active pallbearers will be Jamie Dillard, Ethan Crider, Clint Dillard, Chris Railey, Bud Mobbs, and Steven Helton.  Honorary pallbearers will be Howard Dillard, Lewis Railey, Robert Helton, Gary Hinton, and Eric Scoggins.

Visitation will be held privately for the family.
