Obituary
Mr. Gaston Cannon, Jr., age 86, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, September 18, 2023, at his residence.
Mr. Cannon was born September 1, 1937, in Jakin, GA, son of the late Gaston Cannon, Sr. and Mary Ethel McKeller Cannon. He was a member of the First Church of God and was retired from the United States Air Force where he served for 28 years. He was also a veteran of Vietnam.
Survivors include his wife, Jewel Deane Cannon; son, Gaston (Teresa) Cannon, III; daughters, Jacqueline Black, Vickie Hammett; a sister, Geri Chambers; 6 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.
Graveside and interment services with military honors will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, September 21, 2023, at West Hill Cemetery with his son, Gaston Cannon, III officiating. Pallbearers will be Tony Black, Joshua Cannon, Jon Hammett, Richard RuBright, Jimmy King, and Anthony Black. Vance RuBright will serve as an honorary pallbearer.
There will be no visitation.
