Raymond Douglas Gentry (Doug) July 6th, 1947-August 4th, 2022. “Dougo” (as he was fondly known as by his friends and family); grew up in Georgia with 6 brothers and 4 sisters and family was always so important to him. He loved dogs and driving, and he always welcomed company as he zoomed around the driveway in his car. Above all, Dougo loved Jesus and we find comfort that he is Home. Dougo was always so “happyo,” and had a contagious smile, that could light up any room. Dougo loved to joke around, but the best part was that right before he “got you” he would giggle so hard, you couldn’t help, but laugh right along with him. Dougo was always so generous and left an unforgettable impression on all that knew him. Dougo spent the last 7 years residing at the Cherokee County Rehab Center at Station 1, where he was very well cared for and while there, he made some very special friends; Paul, Tim, David, Victoria, Sonya, Erin, Labriska, Autumn, Christina, Tish, Lia, Sarah, Kristen, Angela, Heather, Cheree and many more. Dougo loved the many activities at the rehab center and was very fond of all the incredible ladies who planned them; Tara, Ashley, Betty, and Tammy.
Dougo will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all the residents/caretakers at the Cherokee County Rehab Center. He is preceeded in death by his parents, Raymond, and Elizabeth Cochran Gentry; his brothers Dick, J.B., J.R, Donald, Larry, and Charles Gentry; his sisters, Mary Nell Tinin; brother-in-law, Pete Basham, his niece, Kathy Basham, Doris, Beverly, and his nephew Eddie.
