Mr. Dempsey Lawson, age 79, of Menlo, GA, passed away Saturday, April 2, 2022.
He was born June 25, 1942, to the late Roy “Shorty” Lawson and Dorothy Dempsey Lawson.
Mr. Lawson graduated from Trion High School in 1960. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Navy and served his country for four years aboard the U.S.S. Taconic. After his service, he was an architect in the Atlanta area, and later retired to Menlo. Dempsey was loved by so many. He was kind and caring to all who knew him. He was the best of men and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Lawson was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 45 years, Sonja Bragg Lawson; and a sister, Sara Lawson Head.
Survivors include his son, Brad Lawson; grandsons, Ben Lawson, Luke Lawson; nieces, Karen Head, Diana Head Ferrell; and many great-nieces and nephews.
Graveside and interment services with military honors will be held at 12:30 P.M. (EST) Thursday, April 7, 2022, at the Berea Church of Christ Cemetery with Pastor Jeremy Stroop officiating. Pallbearers will be Rick Wyatt, Joe Heatherly, David Brenwald, Mike Shireman, Glen Trapp, and Bobby Evet and Chuck Lopopolo.
Mr. Lawson will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. (EST) until 12:00 Noon on Thursday.
