Rev. Gerald Dewayne Teague, age 72 of Mentone, AL passed away Monday, May 27, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Rev. Teague was born in Menlo, GA to the late Grady and Mary McGinnis Teague. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of the American Legion Post 0215, and Valley Head Lodge 394. Rev. Teague was the pastor of Sardis Baptist Church for over 30 years, and he pastored several churches in Georgia, Alabama, and Alaska. He was also retired from the City of Summerville water department.

Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brothers, R.D. Maples and Billy Teague.

Survivors include his loving wife, Fredia Teague; son, William (Lala) Teague; daughter Virginia Applebaum, siblings, Larry (Joann) Teague, L.C. (Elenor) Teague, and Nancy Teague; 6 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Rev. Teague will take place at 11:00 EST Thursday, May 30 at the Chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Howell and Rev. Barry Peppers officiating. Interment with Military Honors (provided by American Legion Post 5) and Masonic Rights will follow at AMI cemetery with the grandsons and nephews serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 EST at Mason Funeral Home.
