Mrs. Josephine Potts Hays, age 85, of Trion, GA, passed away Friday June 17, 2022, at her residence.

Mrs. Hays was born December 14, 1936, in Centre, AL, the daughter of the late George Lewis and Mary Swafford Potts.  She was retired from Mt. Vernon Mills, loved gardening, and going to trade day.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Derwood Hays; brothers, James Potts, Dave M. Potts, and Thurmond Potts; sister, Betty Sue Treadaway; and niece, Betty Lynn Cagle.

Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Jennifer Hays; grandchildren, Joey Hays, (Karie Armentrout), Jason and Ashtin Hays, and Caleb Reece; and great-grandchildren, Sereaphina and Kalina Hays.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Hayes will be held 1:00 p.m. Monday June 20, 2022, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Kevin J.  Norton officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens with Jason Hays, Keith Rollins, Joey Hays, Kevin Rollins, Lewis Potts, and Caleb Reece serving as pallbearers.

Mrs. Hays will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Monday June 20, 2022 from 12:00 noon until the service hour.
