Mrs. Gladys Carter Reese age 89 of Summerville, GA passed away Friday, August 21, 2026, at her residence.

Mrs. Reese was born September 3, 1936, in Summerville, GA to the late George and Emma Key Carter. She was a member at Trion Heights Baptist Church and the Women's Sunday School Class. She worked at Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in the 1980's where she served as volunteer coordinator.

Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James "Jimmy" Reese, Jr; siblings, Elizabeth Powell, Jessie Purcell, Faye McWhorter, Billy Carter, and James Carter; and son-in-law, Terry L. Johnson.

Survivors include her children, James "David" Reese, III and Deborah Johnson; brother, Gene Carter; grandchildren, Terry L. Johnson, Jr. and Tera Gunderman; great-grandchildren, Kayla Cotton, Krista Johnson, and Haley Olles; along with several nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.

Graveside and interment services to celebrate the life of Mrs. Reese will take place at 2:00 PM Sunday, August 23, 2026, at AMI Cemetery with Rev. Vernon Johnson officiating. Pallbearers will be David Reese, Lee Johnson, Kayson Koonce, Quinton Watson, Kelly Hamilton, and Bill Bryant.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 12:30 until 1:30 P.M. at Mason Funeral Home.
