Mrs. Sylvia "Ann" McKissick, age 81, of Gaylesville, AL, passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at Atrium Health Floyd-Cherokee.

Mrs. McKissick was born August 23, 1942, daughter of the late J.D. Bishop and Blondine Plaster.  She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and prior to her retirement, was employed in the textile industry.  Mrs. McKissick was a loving mother, grandmother, and wife.  She also enjoyed cooking and loved animals.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Leroy McKissick; sons, Leroy McKissick, Jr. and Marion Lee McKissick; and siblings, Barbara Kellett and James Bishop.

Survivors include her children, Brenda (Ricky) Peek, Billy (Shirley) McKissick, Hugh (Imojean) McKissick, James (Lisa) McKissick, and Linda (Tim) Weaver; a sister, Wanda (Donald) Baker; 11 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. McKissick will be held at 2:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Monday, December 4, 2023, at Faith Baptist Church in Gaylesville with Rev. Sanford DeBerry and Rev. Clay Moreland officiating.  Interment will follow in Union Hill "Needmore" Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Rickey Peek, Rick Peek, Porter Sanford, John McKissick, Mason McKissick, J.R. McKissick, T.R. Weaver, Noah Weaver, Tim Weaver, Austin Crocker, and Kenny Taylor.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tiffany Jones, Skyler Taylor, Amanda Sanford, Brittany Crocker, and Connor Weaver.

Mrs. McKissick will be in state at Faith Baptist Church and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon (E.S.T.) until the hour of service.
