Mr. Trygve Mylo "Gordon" Woodard, 72, of Guntersville, AL, died Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Atrium Health Floyd.

Mr. Woodard was born January 28, 1951, in Fayette, AL, son of the late Clement and Emma Johnson Sink.  He graduated with honors from the University of Michigan and was retired from the United States Navy where he served 20 years.

Mr. Woodard served as the head of NVROTC from Texas to Alaska including the west coast.  He was an Executive Officer, second in command of two battleships, The Hepburn and The Cook.  Mr. Woodard also served as the Force Operations Officer of Subic Bay Naval Base just before the United States withdrew from Vietnam.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Woodard was preceded in death by a son, Gordon Woodard.

Survivors include his wife, Jimmie Headrick Woodard; son, Myles (Kristy) Woodard; step-son, Richard Tucker; step-daughter, Karen Kunzelman; brother, Clement (Joanne) Sink, Jr.; sister, Alyse (Gary) Read; grandchildren, Joslyn, Dori, Trevre, Avery, Tanner, Rhett, Kane, Cameron, and Erin; great-grandchildren, Cayden, Ransom, and Bryson; and his special fur babies, Blackberry Pie and Sunshine.

A celebration of life service for Mr. Woodard will be held at a later date.
