Reginal “Reggie” Dowdy, 81, of Cedar Bluff, Alabama, passed away peacefully at his home on October 22, 2026, surrounded by his wife and children.

Born October 31, 1944, in Sylvester, Georgia, to W.T. and Doris Dowdy. Reggie graduated from the University of Georgia with a BA in Business before serving his country in Vietnam. He went on to a long career as a textile manager that spanned South Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi, as well as several countries overseas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, W.T. and Doris Dowdy; his brothers, W.A. Dowdy and Ricky Dowdy; and Ricky’s wife, Patty Dowdy.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Linda Newberry Dowdy; his children Gina Dowdy, Eric Dowdy, and Julie Dowdy (Sara Vida); his sister Rhonda Dowdy Howard (Fred); his sister-in-law, Diana Dowdy; 10 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In accordance with Reggie’s wishes, he was cremated and no formal services are planned at this time.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
