Obituary

Mr. Milton Lewis Pearsey, age 86, of Gaylesville, AL, died Monday, May 23, 2022, at Cherokee Medical Center.

Mr. Pearsey was born February 11, 1936, in Centre, AL, son of the late Milton Thomas and Nora Lee Lewis Pearsey.  He was a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church # 1 and had been employed in the farming industry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou Garmon Pearsey; a son, Michael Shane Pearsey; a daughter, Jan Pearsey; brothers, John Roy Pearsey, Billy Pearsey, and LaWayne Pearsey; sisters, Louise Pearsey and Ruth Parker.

Survivors include his daughter, Betty Ann Abernathy; a son, Lewis Pearsey, Jr.; a brother, Kenneth Pearsey; sisters, Maggie Canada and Joan McKelvey; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. (EST) Wednesday, May 25, 2022, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Briggs King and Rev. Brian Williams officiating.  Interment will follow in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery (9755 AL Highway 9 – Centre, AL 35960).  Active pallbearers will be John Nickles, Jerry Paul Burton, Nick Clements, Patrick Canada, and Jerry Canada.  Honorary pallbearers will be nephews.

Mr. Pearsey will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. (EST) until the hour of service on Wednesday.
