Mr. John Carl "J.C." Grimes, Jr., age 83, of Trion, GA, died Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Parkside Nursing and Rehabilitation.

Mr. Grimes was born October 16, 1938, in Trion, GA, son of the late John Carl Grimes, Sr. and Dorothy Francis Murphy Grimes.  He was a member of Welcome Hill Baptist Church and prior to his retirement, was employed with Auto Zone.  He was a member of Trion Lodge # 160 F&AM and was also former owner and operator of Hookey's Drive Inn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Ruth Hazel White Grimes; and a sister, Brenda Headrick.

Survivors include his daughter, Kathy Grimes; other family members, Jody Thompson, Montyne and Verlon Thompson; and a nephew, David Headrick.

Graveside and interment services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at West Hill Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Pledger officiating.  Honorary pallbearers will be Tommy Pledger, Hugh Teague, Butch Camp, Verlon Thompson, Tony Thompson, David Headrick, and the Staff of Parkside.

Mr. Grimes will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the service hour on Tuesday.

Due to the current health concerns for the community, those in attendance are asked to keep in mind the current guidelines and restrictions set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings including the use of face masks and hand sanitizer.
