Mr. Jimmy Allen Deering, age 65, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, October 18, 2021, at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Deering was born February 25, 1956, in LaFayette, GA, son of the late Jimmy Ray and Virginia Lee Clark Deering.  He was a veteran of the United States Army and was employed as a truck driver with Mohawk.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, working on lawnmowers, listening to gospel music, and being outdoors.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Vanessa Deering.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Johnson Deering; sons, Nathaniel (Sharon) Deering, William Austin Johnson; brother, Jeff (Sharon) Deering; sister, Shelia (Tim) Black; 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Deering will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 20, 2021, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Clark officiating.  Honorary pallbearers will be William Johnson, Tyler Swafford, Nathaniel Deering, Nathaniel Deering, Jr., Zacc Meeks, and Darold Swafford, Jr.

Mr. Deering will be in state in Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 10:00 A.M. until the hour of service on Wednesday.

Due to the current health concerns for the community, those in attendance are asked to keep in mind the current guidelines and restrictions set forth by the C.D.C. as it pertains to social gatherings including the use of face masks and hand sanitizer.
