Mr. Billy Joe Simpson age 88 of Summerville, GA passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at his residence.

Mr. Simpson was born May 5, 1935 in Rainsville, AL to the late Robert and Bula Talley Simpson. He was retired from Lyerly Rug Mill and was a Free Mason. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading his Bible, and going to church.

Along with his parents Mr. Simpson is preceded in death by his son, Michael Simpson; and daughter, Sharon Morgan.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Simpson; children, Timothy Simpson and Lisa Cordell; grandchildren, Kristie Morgan, Joe Morgan, and Christen Cordell; 5 great grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Mr. Simpson will take place at 1:00 Tuesday, April 9, 2024 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. David Dutton and Rev. Jake Morrison officiating. Interment with Masonic Rights will follow at West Hill Cemetery with Joe Morgan, Derek Willingham, Heath Noles, Chris Noles, Adam Hunt, Jeff Kirby, David Long, and Tony Long serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jaden Barnett, the Free Mason Chattooga Lodge #704, former co-workers from the Lyerly Rug Mill, and caregivers from Tapestry Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 12:00 - 1:00 Tuesday at the funeral home.
