Mr. George David "Squirrel" Ward, age 71, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, June 5, 2023, at Atrium Health Floyd.

Mr. Ward was born December 25, 1951, in St. Louis, MO, son of the late Robert and Lelia Kiker Ward.  He was retired from Mount Vernon Mills where he worked as an electrician.  Mr. Ward loved going to Trade Day, restoring cars, and watching western movies.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn Hughes Ward; brother, Robert "Bobby" Ward; and a sister, Shirley Ward.

Survivors include his son, David (Kathy) Ward; daughter, Kimberly Michelle Ward; brother, Jimmy (Elaine) Ward; sisters, Brenda (Roy) Akerey, Frances (Charles) Akerey; grandchildren, Tytus and Jovie Thrasher, Kaitlyn Thrasher, Preston Ward, Brylie Ward, Bryson Ward, Dylan Ward, Devon McGuire, and Levi McGuire.

Memorial services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 7, 2023, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Donnie Carver officiating.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at Mason Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Wednesday.
