Ms. Mildred Sue Mitchell, age 80, of Summerville, GA, died Saturday, January 6, 2018, at the Oakview Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Ms. Mitchell was born March 16, 1937, in Gaylesville, AL, daughter of the late J. C. and Mildred Carr Mitchell.  She was Baptist by faith, and prior to her retirement, she was employed with Century Glove and Jim’s Restaurant.  Ms. Mitchell was a wonderful, loving mother, grandmother, and friend.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Dewayne Bates; brother, Pete Mitchell; sisters, Beatrice Brown and Betty Nell Mitchell.

Ms. Mitchell is survived by her son, Dale (Tammy) Bates; daughter, Debbie Berry (Dennis Ramey); sisters, Ann (Bill) Broyles and Naomi Barnes; grandchildren, Dana and Will Stewart, Bridgette and Alana Berry, Brittney and Michael Nicholson, Brett and Lacey Jackson; and 5 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Ms. Mitchell will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 8, 2018, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Robert Brown and Bro. Steve Odom officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mount Zion Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Michael Nicholson, Brett Jackson, Dennis Ramey, Bill Broyles, Bill Sylar, and Will Stewart.  Honorary pallbearers will be the associates of Jim’s Family Restaurant.

Ms. Mitchell will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Monday.
