Mrs. Velma Ruth (Chitwood) Allen

Ms. Velma R. (Chitwood) Allen age 75 of Summerville, GA passed away Friday- October 26, 2018 at Rome Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Ms. Allen was born August 6, 1943 in Wellington, Alabama to the late John and Omer Connell Chitwood.  She was a homemaker and a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Along with her parents, Ms. Allen is preceded in death by her son; Tony Allen, brother; John Chitwood, sister; Joann Chitwood, and brother in laws; Bernard Shaw, Bob Dooley, and Sam Gossett. Sister-in-laws; Betty Chitwood and Ruby Chitwood, Great-grandson; Tanner Nixon.

Survivors include her daughter; Norma Winters, granddaughter; Crystal Nixon, great-grandchildren; Branson and Bradley Nixon, and Anniston, Blake, and Gavin Mann, sisters; Leona Shaw, Jewell Dooley, and Marie Gossett, and brother; Royce (Linda) Chitwood.

Funeral services for Ms. Allen will take place at 3:00 PM Tuesday October 30, 2018 at the chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Dr. Jerry Dudley officiating. Burial will follow at Silver Hill Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Mark Nixon, Blake Mann, Fred Washington, Mickey Hughes, Anniston Mann, Gavin Mann, and Wayne Pritchett.  Honorary Pallbearers will be the staff at Rome Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Ms. Allen will be in state and the family will receive friends Monday from 5-7 PM at the funeral home.
