Mrs. Shirley Maxine (Norton) Head

Mrs. Shirley Maxine Head, age 85, of Trion, GA, passed away Monday, May 28, 2018, at her residence.

Mrs. Head was born August 21, 1932, in Summerville, GA, the daughter of the late John Franklin and Sarah Kate Dodd Norton.  She was a member of the Welcome Hill Baptist Church where she was active in the WMU and the Ladies Sunday School Class.  She was formerly employed with Big Friendly in Trion and the Ideal Shop.   In addition to her parents, Mrs. Head was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Jack Head; siblings, Lemous Norton, Essie Dooley, Charles Norton, and Nola Floyd.

Mrs. Head is survived by her children, Regina and Ed Parker, Edward Head, John and Lee Ann Head; granddaughter, Katie Head; sisters-in-law, Shirley Collette and Louise Norton.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 31, 2018, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Terry Shores and Rev. Kenneth Norton officiating.  Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Jim Brooks, Robert Norton, Ladell Norton, Rusty Dooley, Tim Collette, Ed Parker, and Mike Head.  Honorary pallbearers will be The Ladies Sunday School Class and WMU of Welcome Hill Baptist Church, Nicole Franks, Judy Fellers, Juanita Henderson, Ruth Collette, and Bertha Whitlock.

Mrs. Head will be in state at the Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday.
