Mrs. Mildred Inez (Mitchell) Hughes

Mrs. Mildred Inez Hughes age 89 of Gaylesville, AL passed away Wednesday, June 20, 2018, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Hughes was born February 17, 1929, in Menlo, GA, daughter of the the late Thomas Roy and Evelyn F. Bryant Mitchell.  She was a member of the Mount Zion Independent Church, and prior to her retirement, was employed with Best Manufacturing.  She was also a member of the Best Silver Club.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Michael L. Hughes; brothers, Marlin Mitchell and Wilburn Hayden Mitchell; a sister, Virginia Mitchell Edgerton; granddaughter, Jessica Hughes; great-granddaughter, Ann Compton; great-grandson, Charlie Thrasher.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by her husband, Horace Roland Hughes, Jr.; sons and daughters-in-law, James Edward and Joyce Ann Bradford Hughes, Donald Joe and Freda Pettyjohn Hughes; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra Joan and James Hitchcock; brother and sister-in-law, Charles Truman and Betty Mitchell; sister, Olivia Mitchell Davis; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mrs. Hughes will be held at 2:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Mount Zion Independent Church with Bro. Freddy Waldrop and Bro. Sanford DeBerry officiating.  Interment will follow in Mount Zion Independent Church Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Robert Compton, Nathan Hughes, Andrew Hughes, Skylar Blankenship, Chase Garrett, Braxton Blankenship, and Jonathan Compton.

Mrs. Hughes will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) Friday, June 22, 2018.  She will also be in state at Mount Zion Independent Church from 1:00 P.M. (E.S.T.) until the hour of service on Saturday.
