Mrs. Joan (Simon) O'Connell

Mrs. Joan Simon O’Connell, age 92, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday, May 25, 2018, in the Oakview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. O’Connell was born May 7, 1926, in Philadelphia, PA, the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Lavin Simon.  Prior to her retirement, she had been employed in retail sales.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John J. O’Connell; and a brother, John Charles Simon.

Mrs. O’Connell is survived by her sons, Chuck Lichtenstein and Thomas Lichtenstein; daughters, Mary Searels and Martha Wurtz; 8 grandchildren; and special friend, Fran Myers. 

Memorial services for Mrs. O’Connell will be held at 12:00 Noon Sunday, June 17, 2018, at Trion United Methodist Church with Pastor Skip Mitchell officiating.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Staff of Oakview Health and Rehabilitation Center and the Staff of Tapestry Hospice.
