Mr. John Calvin “Johnny” Johnson, age 58, of Summerville, GA, died Monday, September 25, 2017.

Mr. Johnson was born December 27, 1958, in Trion, GA, son of the late Calvin “Slim” Johnson and Annie Louise Pettyjohn Johnson.   He was retired from Mount Vernon Mills where he worked for 39 years before leaving to start his own business.  He was the owner and operator of Classic Lawn Care and was a member of Mountain View Baptist Church.  He was also a member of the C.A.R.S. Club in LaFayette and loved to show cars and trucks.  His 1966 Chevrolet C10 was featured in American Truck Magazine.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his grandfather, Henry Pettyjohn, and grandmother, Sallie Mae Brown Pettyjohn.

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Becky Johnson; son, Joshua Prince; daughters and sons-in-law, Natalie and David Matthews, Kim and Daniel Evans; sister, Doretha Johnson Brady; God daughter, Autumn Wade; and grandchildren, Maleaha Pickard, Kim Renfroe, Skyler Renfroe, Brody Evans, and Serenity Evans.

Funeral service for Mr. Johnson will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday, September 29, 2017, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ricky Biddle and Rev. Mike Odom officiating.  Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens.  Active pallbearers will be Mike Wade, Stan Smith, Scott Smith, John Sterner, Gary Rape, Joe Matthew, and Tracy Barksdale.  Honorary pallbearers will be the members of Mountain View Baptist Church, Mr. Johnson’s cousins, and the members of the Mount Vernon Mills Preparation Department.

Mr. Johnson will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, September 28, 2017.
