Mr. James “Jim” Reese, Jr. age 83 of Summerville, GA passed away Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Floyd Medical Center.

Mr. Reese was born November 30, 1934 in `Menlo, GA to the late James “J.D.” Sr. and Rena Ruth Blackburn Reese. He was retired from Mount Vernon Mills, a Baptist by faith, and a veteran of the United States Army.

Along with his parents, Mr. Reese is preceded in death by a sister; Peggy Love.

Mr. Reese is survived by his wife; Gladys Carter Reese, son; James David Reese, III, daughter; Deborah (Terry) Johnson, grandchild; Lee Johnson, great-grandchildren; Krista, Kayla and Haley Johnson, great-great-grandchild; Kayson Koonce, neice; Susan Wallin, and nephew; Lamar Love.

Funeral Services for Mr. Reese will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the Chapel of Mason Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at AMI Cemetery, with military honors provided by the  Shanklin-Attaway Post 5 of the American Legion.  Active pallbearers will be James Carter, Gene Carter, Michael Morris, Johnny Reynolds, and Terry Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be current and retired employees of Mount Vernon Mills.

Mr. Reese will be in state, and the family will receive friends, Tuesday from 1:30 until the hour of the service.
