Mr. Hubert "Hub" Thomas Dover

Mr. Hubert “Hub” Thomas Dover, age 89, of Summerville, GA, passed away Friday May 25, 2018, at Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Dover was born July 6, 1928, in Lafayette, GA, the son of the late Hershel D. and Emma Jean Bryson Dover.  He was a retired farmer, and bus driver with the Chattooga County School System, and he was a member of the Subligna Baptist Church for over 60 years, ordained as a Deacon October 26, 1969 and also served as Chairman of the Deacons.  He was preceded in death by sisters, Nola Dover Palmer, Doris Dover Patterson, brothers, H.D. Dover, Bob Dover, Grady Thomas

Survivors include his wife of 66 years; Louise Roper Dover, children; Tommy & Freida Dover, Roger Dover, Sharon & Leroy Sweatman, grandchildren; Tommy Jr. and Jenny Dover, Jeff Dover, Samantha and Joe Stephens, Leah and Stephen McCullough, and Dereck and Starr Dover, great-grandchildren; Chloe Dover, Chance Dover, Landon Stephens, Evan Stephens, Sarah Ann McCullough, Dyvan Dover, Layne Dover, Brittian Dover, and Aiden Dover, sisters; Betty Dover, Annie Cooke and Helen & Allen Ponder and brother-in-law; Bob and Kathryn Roper.

Funeral service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday May 27, 2018, at Subligna Baptist Church with Dr. Charles Bishop and Rev. George Pinion officiating. Interment will follow at Subligna Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Tommy Dover, JR, Jeff Dover, Joe Stephens, Steven McCullough, Stacy Gray, and Larry Veatch.  Honorary pallbearers will be the Deacons and Men’s Sunday School Class, of Subligna Baptist Church and the staff of Oakview Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Dover will be in state at  Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends Saturday May 26, 2018 from 6 to 8 p.m.  At other hours the family will be at the home of their daughter, Sharon Sweatman.

He will also be in state at the Subligna Baptist Church Sunday from 3:30 p.m until the service hour.
