Mr. Ed Marlin Burke

Mr. Ed Marlin Burke, age 86, of Summerville, GA, died Friday, February 8, 2019, at Oakview Health and Rehabilitation.

Mr. Burke was born October 29, 1932, in Summerville, GA, son of the late Fred Stone Burke and Evie Irene Jones Burke. He was a member and deacon of the Harrell Street Church of God of the Union Assembly. He was retired from Harriett and Henderson and had also worked as a self-employed carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Joyce Moore Burke; sons, Thomas Edward “Tommy” Burke, Donnie Franklin Burke; and a step-daughter, Becky Dean.

Mr. Burke is survived by his son, Eric Shawn Burke; daughter, Margo Denise Burke; step-sons, Michael Helton and Terry Helton, Sr.; step-daughters, Donna Tyson and Mary Ann White; grandchildren, John McGraw, Mark McGraw, Adam McGraw, Scott McGraw, Sasha McGraw, Terry Helton, Jr., Sarah Ann Helton, Missy Helton, Tammy Helton, Mikey Helton, Tamyria Helton, Alex Helton, Rachael Dean, Samantha Dean, and She’rie Dean, Kenny White, Ginger White, and Michelle Blanton; and several great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Mr. Burke will be held at 1:00 P.M. Sunday, February 10, 2019, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Denny Smith and Rev. Rocklan Hughes officiating. Interment will follow in Greenhills Memory Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandsons as well as J. R. Kennett and Freddie Bell.

Mr. Burke will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. Saturday.
