Mr. David Shields Obituary

Mr. David Monroe Shields, age 67, of Summerville, GA, passed away Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Redmond Regional Medical Center.

Mr. Shields was born February 18, 1952, in LaFayette, GA, son of the late Ralph Monroe and Lois Cagle Shields.  He was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was a self-employed carpenter.  Mr. Shields loved fishing, music, building cabinets, and working in his shop.  He had also served in the Army National Guard and was a founding member and past chief of the Subligna Fire Department.

Mr. Shields is survived by his wife, Kathy Yother Shields; son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Casey Shields; daughter and son-in-law, Haley and Andy Gee; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Doug Mahan, Gail and Lee Reed; and 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November 23, 2019, at the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Danny Hobbs officiating.  Interment will follow at Subligna Cemetery.  Active pallbearers will be Chris Bohannon, Jeff Mahan, Corey Reed, Aaron Reed, Andy Gee, and Rudy Yother.  Honorary pallbearers will be Doug Mahan and Lee Reed.

Mr. Shields will be in state at Mason Funeral Home and the family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until the hour of service on Saturday.
