Mr. Clint "Candy Man" Young

Mr. Clint “Candy Man” Young, age 77 of Summerville, GA passed away Sunday- February 11, 2018 at his residence.

Mr. Young was born March 21, 1940 in Valley Head, AL, son of the late Floyd Edward and Leona Clark Young.  He was a member of Unity Baptist Church, and prior to his retirement, was employed as a police officer with the Summerville Police Department.  He had also worked with the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department, was a self-employed mobile home transporter, and had been employed as a Funeral Assistant with Mason Funeral Home.  Mr. Young was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Germany.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Richey Lamar Young, Joel Dan Young, and Ronald “Billy” Edward Young; sister, Lorene Moore; and infant sisters, Charlotte and Margaret Young.

Mr. Young is survived by his wife of 54 years, Deane Young; daughter and son-in-law, Kellie and Jamie Renslow; sisters and brother-in-law, Nancy Wilson, Frances Cordle, Linda and Ron Pledger; and a granddaughter, Anna Renslow.

Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 17, 2018, from the Mason Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ron Pledger and Rev. Horace Stewart officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be current and former staff of the Summerville Police Department and the Chattooga County Sheriff’s Department, as well the staff of Pruitt Hospice.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at Mason Funeral Home from 12:00 Noon until the hour of service on Saturday.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations be made to Santa in Uniform (P.O Box 342 Summerville, GA 30747) or to the Clint Young Scholarship Fund for future Summerville Police Officers or Chattooga County Sheriff’s Deputies at United Community Bank (9699 Rome Boulevard, Summerville, GA 30747).
